What is an associate manager? What do they do? An account manager is hired by a company primarily to serve as a mediator between the company and the client. They manage all monetary transactions between the two, and they also serve in the vital capacity of placating the client. They make sure that everyone is happy, and they take special care in securing a client’s favor. A company is only as strong as their investors, and an associate account manager in the one charged with keeping investors pleased.
Like all accounting jobs, an associate manager particularly deals with monetary exchanges. They monitor budgets belonging to the company, and to each client or customer. They are the one’s responsible for making sure that the right payments go to the right people, and at the right times.
This career is a specific one, and also a very important one—not only to the company, who is your employer, but to the client, who benefits from your association. You would work very closely with a company’s Marketing and Sales departments, and of course you would be directly involved in customer satisfaction.
There are many types of accounting jobs and careers that an aspiring accountant can enter, but one of the most varied and rewarding is definitely that of an associate manager. Although you do deal with audits and budgeting, your focus will be on both people and business. So you will need an understanding of business that many accountants don’t need, and you will need to be manager material.
And what does that entail? What makes a manager? Obviously you will need to know your stuff. You will need to be an accountant at heart, and be able to convey orders and messages clearly. Much of your work will be done over the phone or through email. You must be confident with these things if you are going to succeed. You will also need to be able to converse easily with many different people, and have confidence in yourself and your work. You will represent your employer during business transactions with clients, and you will need to have a confident air while portraying the company.
You must also be technically adept—primarily with the computer and internet. Also, accounting jobs are aggressive. You must be oriented and ambitious to succeed. You will be expected to not only meet expectations, but oftentimes exceed them. Accounting jobs are not your typical desk job!
The salary of an associate accountant manager varies with past experience, and is definitely determined by education level. But the starting figure is around $44,000 if you have basic educational requirements. You should have a minimum of a Bachelors degree, and the higher you go from there will mostly build your salary, although not your chances of employment. A degree in accounting, business, or communications would serve you well, and any past experience you have with computer technology or accounting should definitely be mentioned.
Getting into management can be difficult, but if you decide to become an associate account manager, your chances just went from fair to very good.
